Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small pieces of information a website can ask a browser to store. Some are used to support essential services; others measure behaviour or personalise advertising. LocalStorage is a separate browser facility that can retain information for a website beyond a single visit. Both differ from a file you deliberately download.
What the supplied website code does
The editorial pages and shared scripts do not set advertising or analytics cookies, load third-party tracking scripts or save correspondence drafts in localStorage. The navigation menu and reveal animations use temporary page state. They do not need a persistent identifier.
The Contact tool builds plain text in memory while the page is open. Copying writes that text to your device’s clipboard when permitted; downloading saves a file you request. Neither action is a cookie, and neither sends the message to us. Your browser may independently restore form entries or maintain clipboard history.
Preference controls
If the hosting platform presents a separate consent control, use that control to accept or decline optional storage and review its description of the technologies involved. Essential storage, where genuinely required for a service you request, is treated separately from optional analytics or advertising. These editorial page scripts do not enable optional trackers when you use the reading or correspondence tools.
You can inspect and delete cookies and site storage through your browser’s privacy or site-data settings. Clearing saved preference information may cause a hosting platform to ask for your choice again. Blocking all storage can affect features provided by the browser or hosting platform, but the core reading pages do not depend on localStorage.
| Feature | Where information is held | How to control it |
|---|---|---|
| Menu and page animations | Temporary page state | Close or reload the page; reduced-motion settings are respected. |
| Correspondence draft | Current page and possible browser form restoration | Clear the fields and review your browser’s autofill settings. |
| Copied message | Your device’s clipboard | Replace or clear clipboard contents using device controls. |
| Downloaded message | A text file on your device | Move or delete the file using your device’s file manager. |
External links
Links to museums, institutions and other reference websites take you to services with their own storage practices. No external video, map, font service or social-media widget is embedded in these editorial pages. Visiting an external link is subject to that service’s policies and your browser settings.
